Connecting the Dots with Bibi Russell
written by Mahenaz Chowdhury.

For Goethe Intitut Bangladesh I illustrated 3 pieces for their article on the fashion icon Bibi Russell. The cover image highlights all the aspects that Bibi Russell is known for. Her iconic style, characterized by her painted glasses, and her work with gamcha are among the elements I chose to emphasize. The second image is about her protégé, crochet artist Nasrin. Nasrin mentions the most rewarding part of her work is training other girls and empowering them to learn and earn. This was an important point that I wanted to feature by using a stitch pattern to show how the craft is passed down and how it is building a community. The third piece shows how when thinking of the GDP, talented artisans are lost as a number in the industry.

All three were done within a fast turnaround.
